What’s a Vacation’s Vacation?

So we all know the jokes about needing a vacation after a vacation, but does that ever really change at any point in life? I grew up heading to Colorado with the RV camper in tow full of food and clothes. I’m not sure if it’s something I’ve made up in my head or if I actually do remember us leaving and being gone for two weeks at a time some summers. They were fun times.

Leslie and I have been blessed in a lot of ways – and somehow we’ve ended up with an RV camper of our own (thank God – it is the reason I was able to convince Leslie to let me get my truck!!). We have a hard time getting away with it, but it’s fun once we do.

This year we went to Jellystone park outside of New Braunfels, TX. We spent about a week camping, sight seeing in San Antonio and roasting marshmallows over an open fire every evening. Of course in our 30 year old camper we were not without the most modern of amenities. We have our TV/DVD player, hot showers, stove and even a microwave. So if you’re wondering, no we didn’t rough it.

We got away from the day-to-day, and that’s all we could really ask for! Sure, it’s always a lot of work to plan out the meals and pack all of your clothes, not to mention having to unpack it all when you get home, but the days in between…we were just us…A Family.

  1. Awwww! Y’all look like you had a fantastic time! You deserved some family time! Have you ever been to Enchanted Rock outside of Fredricksburg? That’s fun camping and Fredricksburg is fun. Good German food! Love your pictures too!!
